New Vice President of Business Development for US operations joins the Genea Biocells team
Dr. Jamshid Arjomand joined Genea Biocells in November 2013 as Vice President of Business Development for the US operations. For the previous nine years, Dr. Arjomand was Director of Basic Research at CHDI Foundations, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to Huntington’s disease therapeutics. While at CHDI Foundation, he designed and managed a complex research portfolio comprising of academic, clinical and industry driven projects, primarily related to biomarker discovery, target discovery and validation efforts, and stem cell development.
During the past four years, he also managed consortia of academic labs focusing on modeling Huntington’s disease using patient derived iPSCs and human embryonic stem cells for drug discovery efforts. Dr. Arjomand received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at UCLA and was a postdoctoral fellow at Purdue Pharma L.P. in Cranbury, N.J. He said, “I am delighted at the opportunity to join Genea Biocells. The practice of using patient derived stem cells and their derivatives to model clinical conditions is gaining momentum in the scientific community and promises to be an exciting approach for understanding and treating complex disorders.”
